GMC JC Softball Shines Bright in 2026

The Georgia Military College Junior College softball program completed an outstanding 2026 season with a 39-16 overall record and an impressive 23-4 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs continued to build on their legacy of success in the region, capturing their second straight regular-season championship and solidifying their status as one of the premier programs in Georgia.

GMC's success was further recognized with a strong presence on the All-Region team, as eight players earned honors for their contributions throughout the season. Leading the way was Jayna Kearson, who was named GCAA Player of the Year after a dominant campaign. Kearson led the conference in nearly every major offensive category, including batting average, RBIs, home runs, and slugging percentage, while earning Player of the Week honors three times. She also ranked second in the conference with 29 stolen bases and proved to be one of the top defensive infielders in the league.

Claire Clements was equally outstanding in the circle, earning GCAA Pitcher of the Year honors while anchoring the Bulldogs' pitching staff. Clements led the conference in both innings pitched and strikeouts and was named Pitcher of the Week five times, in addition to earning Player of the Week recognition once, showcasing her impact on both sides of the game.

Kearson and Clements were joined on the All-Region First Team by sophomores Olivia Bridger and Sophia Boutelle. Bridger was a consistent threat at the plate and on the base paths while establishing herself as one of the top shortstops in the conference. Boutelle's play in the outfield helped anchor GMC's defense, and her power at the plate provided a spark that could ignite rallies at any moment.

The Bulldogs also placed four players on the All-Region Second Team, highlighting the depth and talent throughout the roster. Kaiden Bradford made her mark in the outfield, Meredith Durden contributed valuable innings in the circle, Ana Land stood out behind the plate, and Kylee Keck provided versatility as a dynamic utility player. Each played a key role in the team's success throughout the season.

Head coach Ashley Bunn was recognized for her leadership and the program's continued excellence, earning GCAA Coach of the Year honors following the championship season. Her guidance has been instrumental in sustaining GMC's high level of performance and fostering a culture of success.

The combination of individual accolades and team accomplishments underscores a remarkable year for the Bulldogs, as the program continues to build momentum and establish itself as the premier junior college softball program in Georgia. With a strong foundation in place, anticipation is already building for what lies ahead, as 2027 can't come soon enough. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on a tremendous season.
