GMC Rifle Team Hits the Target

The GMC Rifle Team capped off an outstanding season in the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference, fueled by exceptional performances from MacKenzie Sookhoo and Skylar Sanford.

Sookhoo earned First Team All‑Conference honors in both Smallbore and Air Rifle, finishing 5th overall in Smallbore and 3rd overall in Air Rifle. Sanford added a Second Team Smallbore selection, placing 7th overall in Smallbore and 13th in Air Rifle, and was recognized as the 2nd Most Improved Air Rifle Shooter in the conference.

At the WIRC Championships, Sookhoo took 8th in Smallbore and claimed a podium finish (3rd) in Air Rifle. Sanford followed with strong performances of 9th in Smallbore and 12th in Air Rifle.

Sookhoo also made program history, becoming the first GMC shooter to win the Georgia State Championship at the National Junior Olympic Qualifying event. As the Georgia Resident Champion in Women's Air Rifle, she earned an automatic invitation to the National Junior Olympics.

Head Coach Lisa Kelley praised the athletes for their commitment and work ethic, noting, they are great representatives of our program and GMC.

With a season full of achievements, the Bulldogs move forward with confidence and momentum. The accomplishments of Sookhoo and Sanford not only showcase their individual talent but set the stage for even greater success in the future.
